There is very little that New Englanders like more than a pick-your-own farm. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples… you name it, they pick it! The money saved and quality alone are reason enough, but supporting small, local businesses is everything. Rebecca Towne is wife to the police chief and stepmother to two amazing girls; why wouldn’t she be invested in supporting everything that makes the towns around Newfound Lake successful? As the town''s librarian, she knows better than most that support can’t be seasonal. Come July, though, strawberry season is over and blueberries are ripe, plump and ready to be picked.
When Rebecca and Kenny get invited to a bring-your-own-dessert, Red, White and Blueberry party with the richest business leaders in the area, it sounds like a great reason to bring a homemade blueberry coffee cake and eat a delicious dinner cooked by someone else. However, the plan didn’t include spending the night trapped by a storm and investigating an unexpected death at the party. When the police don’t find anything suspicious, Rebeca takes over.
Will the death be deemed a result of natural causes because there’s no evidence to the contrary, or will Rebecca take matters into her own hands, sift through the subtle clues and find proof of a crime?
