When the town librarian is an avid mystery and true-crime reader, the local law enforcement must need a book-smart assistant like her, right?

Rebecca and Kenny aren’t ready to plan their wedding just yet, but a revival of the Firemen’s Carnival is right in their wheelhouse. The lights, sounds, smells and feelings associated with their childhood memories of the carnival were so strong, they needed to make it happen for Kenny’s daughters. With the assistance of the fire department and the Greco Amusement Company, the Newfound area will have a carnival to look forward to for the first time in decades.

When Rebecca takes on the self-appointed responsibilities of concession supervisor, she might take things a little too seriously. Volunteers start to get annoyed with all her communications, but no more than when she starts investigating their possible involvement in the suspicious death of the fire chief on opening night.

Will the carnival leave town, never to return again, due to the death of such a prominent figure, or will someone’s mask slip, causing a circus among the local business owners?
