You Can't Always Grill What You Want
(2026)(Book 36 in the Newfound Lake Cozy Mystery series)
A Story by Virginia K Bennett
When the town librarian is an avid mystery and true-crime reader, the local law enforcement must need a book-smart assistant like her, right?
How a man celebrates Mother’s Day and Memorial Day shows what he’s made of, and Kenny Towne is made of the best of the best. Not only does he value his ex-wife for her contributions raising their daughters, but he also recognizes that the members of our military who gave all deserve to be remembered. After both of those meaningful contributions, he turns his focus on Rebecca and her need for a new car. The Memorial Day cookout and sale at Barny’s Gear Shift, the local used car dealership, is in full swing. Rebecca, as always, has put others before herself for too long, and it’s finally her turn to be the priority.
When the test drive runs long, after an unexpected delay, Rebecca and Kenny return to the dealership to find it locked. A few phone calls later, the owner is back to let them in, only for a salesman’s deceased body to be discovered in an office. Since Kenny and Rebecca are in the building at the time of the discovery, they’re conveniently privy to everything at the scene of the crime.
Rebecca doesn’t have an idle bone in her body, and her drive to find the truth never takes a back seat. Will she be able to put her foot on the gas to solve this mystery quickly, or will a lack of evidence cause the police to pump the breaks on the investigation?
