The Earth has been overrun by the alien Wezwax, who are simply taking the planet for themselves. Humans have been given the option of leaving for the refugee worlds or staying behind as indigenous animals. Jim is a confidential informant for another alien species, the Blue Men, and has a private starship with which he will leave Earth, On the last day, he runs into Carolyn, a co-worker from his day job whose been abandoned by her husband, along with their two little girls. Jim offers them a lift off-world, secretly hoping he can convince Carolyn to become his girlfriend.
