The town of Eagle Junction has two headaches. The first is the prolonged drought and the second is the threat of revenge from the Galt gang. The town marshal, Abie Murphy, has killed Ben Galt, brother of the notorious Jack Galt and on discovering the identity of the man he has killed and anticipating Jack Galt's terrible revenge, Murphy flees town. His deputy, every bit as alert to the danger, follows his example. Meanwhile, Dan Straker, a drought-stricken farmer, is in town loading up his last supplies from Arthur Flint's store. Without supplies he's done for and Flint can no longer extend credit to him. If only he had the money to divert a mountain stream...Then, a dangerous option is revealed to him. Will the lure of money to solve all his problems be sufficient to justify taking on a mission which will, in all probability, cost him his life?
