Our Studious Way
(2027)(The second book in the All Hallows of Feyland series)
A novel by Brigid Collins
Set in Anthea Sharp’s world of Feyland: What if a virtual reality video game was secretly a portal to Faerie?
From the moment Byren started the Necromancer beta in Feyland, he knew he was born to command the dead. At least they never ask him for anything he’s not willing to give, unlike his Halford University classmates looking to leech off the Golden Grade Aura that clings to him thanks to his mom’s role as Board Chairwoman, or all the professors angling for tenure.
Unfortunately, the devs scrapped the Necro expansion due to ‘technical difficulties.’ Now all Byren is left with is his previous Druid account and the one true ghoul he bonded with during his brief ''' but eventful experience as a Necromancer. Sweet Groanah acts as his Druidic ‘familiar’ when he plays Feyland these days.
But when Groanah develops symptoms of some unknown illness, Byren is distraught. He knows better than to enter the true Faerie Realm that lies beyond Feyland’s code alone, but where else is he supposed to find a way to cure the only creature in two worlds who genuinely likes him?
Luckily, Feyland has recently introduced a notoriously infuriating randomized library dungeon, full of spell books of knowledge both arcane and forbidden. Rumor has it the devs even included some spells from old, scrapped content.
If Byren wants to find any of the lost Necromantic magic that will cure his ailing undead pet, he’ll need to convince his not-so-secret crush Jerett, Halford University’s top student and the only guy who genuinely hates Byren, to lend him both his gaming skills and his talent for deep research.
