‘The Storm Divides Us’ is a dual-timeline, gothic, feminist retelling of ‘The Tempest’.
In the middle of a storm, desperate Mira prays to the banished goddess Sycorax for help.
Her prayers are interrupted by her controlling father Prospero.
Lightning forks in the sky, a tree branch falls, and two different timelines are set in motion.
In Timeline One, the branch pierces Prospero’s heart and he dies while the storm rages. Mira is sentenced to life imprisonment on Blackspeare Island. A place of darkness, witchcraft, and cruelty ruled by Governor Ferdinand.
There, she meets Caliban. Branded a monster and rumoured to be the son of Sycorax herself, Caliban is the island’s most feared inmate.
Mira and Caliban fall in love and, together, decide to overthrow the powers that control Blackspeare and return the island to its original magick.
In Timeline Two, Prospero survives. He is named the new governor of the island, and Mira travels to Blackspeare as royalty.
In the Governor's mansion, Mira is married off to Ferdinand to secure political order.
Once again, she meets Caliban. But in this timeline, their love affair is one of yearning, lingering looks, and enemies-to-lovers tension.
Calliban must stage his rebellion alone. But will Mira free herself from Ferdinand and join him? Or will she remain married to her ‘fate’?
Is love enough to weather the storm that divides us?
Genre: Paranormal Romance
