If it’s one thing Dr. Jenna Novak hates, it’s cruelty. On the night of the town of Serenity’s annual Halloween Great Pumpkin Vigil, a drunken joke turns into a rescue mission. Jenna, her artist neighbor, Tiffany, and Fire Chief Logan’s favorite firefighter, Paisley, decide to invade the Pickett farm and free their many neglected dogs. After all, the owners are off hunting. Problem is, although the elder Picketts aren’t home, their trigger-happy preteen sons are, and they’re armed.
Once again Logan rides to her rescue. Jenna’s grateful, and though she finds it harder and harder to keep her hands off him, there’s the matter of a bet she rashly made with him: No sex for seven days. The one who caves in loses.
The man is so irresistible that she’s willing to throw the bet, make love to him again and damn the consequences . . . except that the entire town has thousands riding on their wager, and are eagerly watching them both to see who caves.
