A novel by

Darius is stranded in Gibraltar yet again with little chance of finding another ship until an old friend from the past gives him a helping hand. Even then he has to give up his position as an officer, but with the British fleet under Nelson stationed fifty miles off Cape Trafalgar and the enemy about to leave Cadiz he would do anything to be part of the coming battle. Like every man there he expects he will have the chance to do his duty but what that demands of him is far beyond anything he could have imagined.
Blackmailed into spying for his country, Xerxes uses his friendship with Napoleon’s spymaster to aid the enemies of France and becomes embroiled in a plot by the army’s generals to overthrow the emperor and put a Bourbon back on the throne. However, when he tries to manipulate the players to his own advantage his plans go horribly wrong and he finds himself in the hands of the savage General Savary and the only the man who can save him is the one he has betrayed. Somehow he has to convince both the British and French spymasters of his loyalty if he is to survive which, with the Grand Armee mobilising for war against Austria and its allies, is no simple task.
In the seventh book of the series, Duty, Glory and Honour, Darius and Xerxes discover the meaning of duty and the demands being bound to it will make of them for the rest of their lives and is Sharpe, Hornblower and Aubrey all rolled into one.
