The fire doesn't care who started it. Mac does.
Mac Tanner has fought wildfires before. He knows how they move, how they think, how they die. But this one isn't moving right. And when Mac finds evidence that someone set it deliberately — multiple origin points, accelerant patterns the drought didn't create — he goes after them.
They almost kill him for it.
Now Mac is operating without a badge, without a radio, without backup, presumed dead in a burning Everglades while the people who started the fire hunt him through the same swamp he's spent his life protecting. And the deeper he goes, the worse it gets — because whoever started the fire wants what's underneath the Everglades badly enough to make sure Mac never comes out.
