The mission is observation. Nothing more.

Nolan Brice's MACV-SOG team is sent behind enemy lines to watch a road junction and settle one question: is the enemy moving far more traffic through it than American intelligence believes?

The answer must come back on film. Not impressions. Not a guess. Exposed film, bearings, and a drawing that keeps what the team physically stood on separate from what they only observed from a distance.

There will be no air support. Brice refuses it before the team leaves because the road has to keep operating if they are going to learn what it carries. They are not there to mine it, cut it, or attack it. Even civilians working along the road are off-limits, no matter what they might accidentally see.

The team goes in reduced to four men, carrying cameras, limited batteries, and every consequence of earlier missions. Once they reach the observation ground, their job is to remain invisible long enough for the road to tell the truth.

Trail Watch is Book 5 of the MACV-SOG series.
