After The Lamb absconds taking D.C. with them, Kate Monroe and Detective Inspector Halifax are tasked with tracking them down and investigating the shady operations surrounding "The Blazing Crucible". Soon they discover far more than they bargained for, as The Lamb finds themselves in as much trouble abroad as they are at home.
