The beach was relaxing. Finally. The last few hours had been anything but a vacation. First, I’m suddenly in what appears to be a small western town in the American Old West... not in my home workshop exploring a new experimental quantum compute module! The girl sitting beside me seems nice... but I had no idea who she was, just that she convinced me that she was warm-blooded like me and that she’d be a good companion. She says that the two girls walking toward us are from the other dominant species wherever I am now... they are cold-blooded.

I was as relaxed as I could be, but I needed a plan. I needed some money and a place to stay. For some reason, based on my surroundings and my skills, apart from electronic engineering, which would do me no good here, I thought maybe I’d take work as a Gunslinger. The girl told me I was lucky she found me. I was sure I was.

The two girls walking toward us were tall. Yeah, they had reptilian skin patterns, but they were oddly attractive. The warm-blooded girl knew them and would introduce us in a few seconds. I could use as many friends as I could get right now.
