Petra. She was running. She was going to keep on running. She wasn't interested in the games men play.

Wasn't interested in being another all too willing toy. And she was worried. He wasn't about to give up easily.

What was she talking about? He wasn't going to give up at all!

She wasn't interested in being a Cyborg Mate. She'd lost the only family that meant anything to her. Loving parents that had died tragically. She'd been alone for a long time now. It's how things were. if she hadn't been in school, had gone with them, it was likely she'd be gone too.

A lucky break? Was that better? She didn't know and at times wished she had been with them but she refused to let that ruin her life and used what her father had taught her to help others.

He'd been a tracker. And had taught her well. From an early age, she was out in the wilds with him. Looking for sign, looking for how to find it and what each one meant. She was good too and her reputation for finding things well known. If the people lost something or someone, they called on her. She was one of several Colony Trackers that did the job. But she considered herself one of the best. Took pride in her work, never lost a case and had more work than she could handle. It was a good life. A life she'd made.

Her work dangerous at times, she never declined a job that sounded good to her, or if people were hurting or carried a good payday, she was more than happy to take it on. Couldn't pay didn't matter to her, the job did. Her reputation did.

And they had rules on her world. Rules the Cyborgs honored. But this new Cyborg was a little different. A new leader of a new rotation. One of three troops with ships that held her world who kept getting in her way. Interfering, annoying, taking over. They were meant to keep her world safe from marauders and pirates only this last job was questioning that. What she found disturbing.

Women and stock were going missing. Strangers were on world that the Cyborgs didn't know about. That shouldn't be possible. She'd find the women and stock, the rest, was up to the Commander and he'd better watch himself or she'd shoot him herself!

****

The woman was reckless. Went off on her own, placed herself in danger that she should leave to the Empire!. He'd told her. Warned her. But did she listen? No! She did what she wanted.

Every action grating. He wanted to protect her. Save her but she was having none of it. Just rode off on her bike and headed for whatever was waiting for her. She was shot at, attacked but she never stopped.

He'd be proud if it wasn't for the fact that every part of his system told him she was his Mate. His instinct to care for her, hide her from danger. But a Mate who didn't want him. Well, he was Cyborg. He'd see about that but first, he needed to tame her and plant that ass so she couldn't get in any more trouble.

Yeah, that wasn't going to be easy....
