This is the story of one woman's march to success and search for true love. Anna Maria von Bock leaves Berlin, the glittering capital of Imperial Germany, where storm clouds are gathering. It is Anna's dream to become a lawyer - possible in Germany but much more difficult in the in United States.

War tears her family apart and Anna is left on her own, left to seek her dream alone.

Anna overcomes the odds and becomes a crusading lawyer. She finds herself pitted against a handsome, intelligent young man who has long been her competitor, as well as her admirer. Then the past threatens her and she has to fight for her future.
