Kevin Chong recommends

Oxford Soju Club (2025)
Jinwoo Park
"Oxford Soju Club ingeniously transposes the code-switching and shapeshifting that diasporic Asians experience in the English-speaking world into a twisty, tension-filled spy story. A writer of great promise, Jinwoo Park navigates issues of identity as effortlessly as he transcends genre."

The Other Valley (2024)
Scott Alexander Howard
"In The Other Valley, Scott Alexander Howard takes an ingenious conceit and wraps it in a story of teenage love to explore eternal questions about second chances and predestination. Howard's novel is sensitively written, propulsively plotted, and unforgettable."

Batshit Seven (2024)
Sheung-King
"Sociopolitically trenchant and darkly witty, Batshit Seven captures what it's like to be a millennial in the age of COVID-19 as a hyphenated, transnational person in a city being dismantled by both political oppression and End Times capitalism. Sheung-King writes unerringly and convincingly about Hong Kong, privilege, Chinese families, lost loves, and so much more."
