Doctor "Buck" Buchanan is in the twilight years of his life having spent decades mastering every scientific field his genius mind could study. He is approached with an ambitious final project for his career: join the ODYN corporation in colonizing the nearby world of Luyten-B at the behest of the enigmatic CEO. What would be a better way to spend the latter years of his life than to oversee a team of the finest scientists as they build a new civilization on the first planet outside of the Solar System?
Unfortunately for the doctor, his latter years are frought with far more danger than even their worst case scenarios had anticipated. He awakens from deep sleep near the end of the journey to Luyten-B to find that he's the only surviving member of a team of dozens of scientists. With Luyten-B up ahead, and no way to return home, Dr. Buck has no choice but to shoulder the responsibility of a barely surviving colony entirely on his own.
