Misty is sitting in the Snack Shack with her two best friends in all the world. Suddenly they all get calls on their cell phones. Their dads inform them that their stepsisters are arriving that day. All three sets of parents got divorced suddenly and mysteriously during the past week. All three fathers got remarried.

They dash home to their neighborhood. Misty's stepsister, Helen, is getting out of a cab. She is drop dead gorgeous. She's also very peculiar. All her bags are marked ATHENS, GREECE. She is bringing not only luggage but tons of tropical fish as well.

Pam's stepsister, Clytie, arrives at almost the same time, also with suitcases from ATHENS, GREECE. She is bringing at least as many tropical fish. Betty Jane's stepsister, Hermine, is doing likewise.

Peculiar things start to happen. That night the stepsisters sneak out at midnight. Misty and her girlfriends follow them. They are going to the beach at Torrey Pines to have a barbecue with the sailing team. They are in time to hear the guys playing hide-and-seek in the woods with their stepsisters. The play suddenly turns deadly. The stepsisters chase the guys into the sea. Then they drag them under the water.

What are these girls up to? Will Misty ever find out before they kill her too in this young adult supernatural thriller novel by Linda Cargill?
