After years running from her small Indiana hometown, Joey had not only returned-- but she had also built a life. A good and practical life because she was a good and practical woman. She had a stable and rewarding job as a pediatric nurse, a lovable cat, and zero interest in ruminating over the past. Especially the boy who broke her heart.

Enter Tripp Adler. A single dad who not only guards his own heart but fiercely protects his four-year-old daughter’s as well. After everything they’d been through, he was definitely not the kind of fake boyfriend for Joey to prove she was over Cal. Then again, the more time they spent together, the more the lines blurred between what was real and what was pretend. And maybe that meant the real problem wasn’t that she still loved Cal (did she?), but instead that for the first time she realized that she might be able to love someone new.
