Death at Noon

(1976)
A novel by

'A boot struck McAllister in the knee and the leg gave under him. As he fell, a boot caught him in the ribs and brought a sharp cry of pain from him. He caught hold of a leg and ripped a man from his feet. The man fell and hacked at him with his spurred heels. Another man jumped on him with both feet, but McAllister was rolling and the man went down hard.

Then everybody froze as a deafening explosion split the smoky air.

"Back up, gents," bellowed George. "This baby scatters a treat and you'll all get it."
