(2025)
(A book in the Mountain Man's Substitute Bride series)
A novel by

Mail-order bride meets Mark Davis in Denver, but she is from Alabama and freezing. She takes one look at the snow, gives back the money he sent her for the hotel, and gets back on the train. The mountains might be beautiful, but it’s too cold for a southern girl, and she’s gone.

Mark stares at the night sky and wonders why God has it in for him. He wanted a wife. A family. He loves the mountains and wants to share them with a woman who will appreciate them and his way of life.
He goes back to the hotel, climbs the stairs to his room, and shuts the door. As he turns on the lantern, he jumps when he sees a woman in his bed. The fear on her face tells him she is on the run.

Cora Bentley thought she had it made. She was going to marry a rich man. He promised to care for her and give her what she wanted. Growing up poor, Cora was excited about the change for her life. Then she discovered what her future would hold. She’d not signed on as a saloon girl.
