She wasn’t looking for love. He needed to be rescued. Together?
Well, it was a mess…

Denise kept an eye on her ten-year-old son and tried to sew the hem of Mrs. Fitzberg’s gown. Since her husband’s death from a bank robbery a year ago, Denise had struggled to make enough for her and her young son to survive. Finally, she took the advice of her longtime friend and put an ad in the San Antonio paper for a mail-order groom. She really wanted a papa for her son. However, she didn’t mention that she had a young son in the letter. She needed help now, and her son needed a father. She wasn’t looking for love. She’d already had that, but she needed a man to help her with the bills and young Sam.
Chad Warren threw his hands in the air. Suzy and Annie were more than a man could single-handedly control. His brother and wife had died of the fever and sent him their children. What is a single man supposed to do with two little girls? He needed help. He sat down for a cup of coffee and looked at the paper. A woman with a home wanted a husband to help her with life’s challenges. He could understand that. He’d wanted to settle down – someday. The girls screamed. His ears ringing, he grabbed the paper and wrote out a letter accepting the proposal from Denise in Sinclair, Texas. He didn’t tell her about the children, but what woman wouldn’t want two adorable little girls? It would work out. It would have to.
