A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH – A collection of 24 short stories

Do you want to be healthy? The characters in this book know their health, both mental and physical, is important, even if they sometimes take it for granted, or behave in ways which aren't in their best interests. They learn there are things we can do to help us stay healthy, such as eating well, getting some exercise and planning ways to reduce our risk of problems.

These strategies can be a lot of fun. Ailsa discovers that on holiday with her husband, and Lauren finds it out on a date with her medical student boyfriend. As Helen learns in one story, and Mr Thirlwall does in another, taking our health seriously is a good thing, becoming obsessed isn't.

Things do get better for the people in every tale – once their issues are diagnosed and assistance is accepted. Lynne overcomes embarrassment about the position of her boil and gets treatment, George realises his strange rash isn't a result of being bewitched and Emelie is relieved to discover the real cause of her sister's avian obsession. Helena's family might be a pain in the neck, but when it's her abdomen which hurts, she finds out who she can rely on. Even young Jack stops being his own worst enemy.

The characters in this book explore a variety of ways to live healthier happier lives, no matter what their medical situation. Whether sick or well, helping ourselves or others, we all have stories to tell. This book contains 24 of them.
