And recently-deceased humans like Kaida have one purpose. They help those monsters practice. Every human is assigned to a group of cryptids. Most get the safer ones. The ones who can charm the humans into submission without being caught.
Kaida doesn't get so lucky. Her four assignments are considered dangerous even among the monstrous netherworld, and they want to consume her, body and soul. They’re volatile, beautiful, vicious, and one bad day away from becoming lost causes. Every human assigned to them before her has failed. Some ran. Some went mad. Some vanished from the records entirely.
Kaida is their last chance.
Surviving them should be her only concern, but the manner of her own mortal death leaves more questions than answers. Why did her hair turn white as moonlight? Why does she wake up screaming in the night? Why do mirrors make her feel like something is looking back?
