Rainy Day Girl

(1986)
A novel by

Rebecca Holmes, a young artist, was excited about moving to Blackstone Place in eastern Pennsylvania. There she would be able to paint while acting as a companion to motherless Felicia Weyland, the stepniece of wealthy, charming Derek Blackstone. Rebecca had met Derek the previous year and secretly fallen in love with him. He'd been engaged then, but apparently the engagement was off now. And today, as Rebecca drove to Blackstone Place through the dismal rain, her heart was filled with the sunny hope that Derek would return her deep affection. She had no way of knowing what awaited her at his estate: the hostility of his family, the jealousy of his glamorous ex-fiancee, and the hateful pranks deliberately designed to terrify her.
