Hello there! I write smart, sexy contemporary romance featuring strong heroines who find love in the most unexpected places.
My debut novel, THE SLOWEST BURN, is the story of Kieran, a chaotic chef who's just won the latest season of a TV cooking competition, and Ellie, the widowed ghostwriter who's co-writing his debut cookbook. It's packed with all the tropes I love: opposites attract, workplace romance, reverse grumpy-sunshine, forced proximity, and fake dating. It's also a love letter to the joys of cooking, to found family, and to the San Francisco Bay Area, where I grew up.
When I'm not writing romance, I'm a cookbook translator who works with authors like Diana Henry and Meera Sodha to make their recipes workable for American cooks.
I've also written about food, powerlifting, and what to do if you find yourself in an opera for The Guardian (UK), Food52, and McSweeney's Internet Tendency, and I also write a Substack about books and drinks called Reading at the Bar.

Dear Dotty (2024)
Jaclyn Westlake
"I loved this funny, thoughtful, tender story about growing up and growing into yourself. Rosie Benson is all of us in our shaky, uncertain early twenties, and Dotty is the ruthlessly honest, unconditionally loving mentor we wish we'd had."
