Sharon Cadwallader is the author of "Whole Earth Cook Book" and "Whole Earth Cook Book 2", of which over a quarter-million copies are in use in the U.S. and Europe. This is her basic cookbook, one that is sure to become a standard kitchen reference in any home where there is a desire to cook with wholesome, non-processed ingredients for good, old-fashioned taste and good health. Each section of the book as well as the individual recipes contains instructions styled to teach the beginner to cook; yet the experienced cook will find plenty of challenge, too. There is a complete selection of traditional fare. In addition there are special sections on vegetarian dishes, preserving fruits and vegetables, and making baby foods. The beverage section includes a variety of healthy breakfast drinks, such as Carob Milkshakes and Orange-Yogurt Shakes. Sharon's background is in the natural foods movement, but she is well aware of the cost of natural or organically grown ingredients. She shows how to make reasonable trade-offs and how and why to avoid preservatives and heavy pre-packaged, pre-processed foods. Her principles are easily adapted to old-favorite recipes. As always, Sharon offers tasty, nutritious, economical, non-faddish, sensible cooking for all ages and lifestyles.
