Kiteboards and Killers

(2027)
(The ninth book in the Bizzy Devlin Cozy Mystery series)
A novel by

The dog knew first.

Photographer Bizzy Devlin has one job this September: calendar pages. Bright kites over a silver sea, autumn light, and the Beach Eagles kiteboarding club showing off for her long lens while a storm nobody quite believes in loiters somewhere south of the forecast. Deb is already clearing a spot by the register. Easy money.

Then the club's golden-boy founder goes down in the surf while Bizzy is still shooting, and Pullen Pointe has its answer before the tide turns: Hans, the newcomer who wanted into the Eagles badly enough to pick a fight on the beach that week. The comment section has already held the trial. But Bizzy spent ten years as a forensic photographer, her camera was on that beach for days before anyone knew it mattered, and when she doesn't understand a crowd, she photographs the crowd.

With Jacko fetching the good markers for the kitchen whiteboard, Edy and Natalie working the case between storm preparations, Detective Doug Williams counting suspects the wrong way, and Luigi offering an early opinion that nobody takes seriously, Bizzy goes back through every frame. Then Hurricane Stanley stops wobbling on the map, the roads close, and the whole town has to ride it out together. The trouble with a town that shelters together is that the killer is sheltering too.

The camera saw everything. Luigi would like it noted that he did too.

Book 9 of the Bizzy Devlin Cozy Mysteries. A fair-play coastal whodunit with a hurricane on the doorstep, a parrot who leads a singalong at the worst possible moment, and a slow burn the whole town has been watching: every clue on the page so you can solve it right alongside Bizzy and Jacko, no gore, no cliffhangers. Each mystery stands alone, and the town is best moved into from Book 1.
