Before Pulse Rising, there was control.
Cold Ruin is a dark prequel novelette set weeks before the events of The Hollós Legacy.
K''lmán is a Vampir Lord who believes power can be governed, mercy measured, and order maintained. This story follows the quiet fractures beneath that belief—through politics, hunger, and decisions that feel necessary until proven wrong.
This is a short, character-driven novelette, not a full novel and not action or romance-forward.
It is slow-burning, introspective, and focused on atmosphere and moral ambiguity rather than action or resolution.
If you finish this story unsettled, conflicted, and thinking about what hasn’t happened yet, Pulse Rising is waiting.
Cold Ruin is intentionally brief and is also available for free to newsletter subscribers via the author''s website.
If you prefer a longer, plot-driven entry point, you may wish to begin with Pulse Rising, Book One of The Hollós Legacy.
Genre: Urban Fantasy
