A leisurely, escapist novel about the countryside and the sea, and about simple unforgotten things. The old house named Cool-na-Grena stood by the Atlantic. There was a waterfall high up, and through the spray you might see into the land of the Rainbow Glass. But there was a haunting of Cool-na-Grena - a door that opened without the touch of a hand, a room that expected the return of a dead man. Lalage came to the house to await the birth of her child. She was running away from unhappiness, as was the dark man who had come there before her.
