A bricked-up wall. A hidden skeleton. A legacy that won’t stay buried.

When curious journalist Julia Wright volunteers to help her best friend Lucy clean out the Maple Bay Library attic, she expects dust bunnies—not decades-old bones and a puzzle box engraved with her late grandmother’s initials. The skeleton is soon identified as former Mayor Alfred Brewer, missing since the 1980s—and someone wanted him forgotten.

Drawn into the mystery by a series of cryptic clues, Julia begins unraveling a web of corrupt land deals, vanished council records, and betrayals that stretch back generations. With her loyal dog Cooper and spunky librarian Lucy by her side, Julia follows riddles through dusty archives, hidden time capsules, and town traditions like the masked Fall Festival Ball.

Two town pillars—Lucy’s charming but evasive uncle and the affable mayor—seem too eager to downplay the past. But when a second puzzle box arrives with a chilling threat, Julia realizes the killer is still watching.

If she doesn’t crack the code in time, Maple Bay might bury its secrets—and her—forever.
