STONE
When you have nowhere else to go, following a man who has become your best friend and brother in far more than blood seems like a good idea. Even if that man has hearts in his eyes for a woman who he only knows through letters. I’m happy for him, he deserves some sunshine in his life.

Even if Jett gets lost in love, going with him in the hopes of finding where I’m supposed to set down roots is better than going back to my hometown where I’d find the ruins of the life I had before I joined up. There’s nothing left for me there except pity and there’s nothing left for me in the service. I’m stuck and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

Meeting Genesis makes me believe in light again. She’s wounded where people can’t see; just like me. She’s afraid to let me in and I can’t say I’m not scared out of my mind myself. I think we might be able to heal each other, at least enough for our wounds to become scars that honor our past as we find our future.

GENESIS
I told myself a long time ago that I’d never let a man inside my heart. The only men I’ve been able to trust are in the family I was adopted into all because my sister fell in love. They think because I was the youngest growing up that I didn’t understand how wrong it all was. I might have tried to be blind to it, but I saw.

It left wounds. They might be healing, but they still pull and itch. It’s hard to ignore them, but I put those worries behind a brave face and a bright smile. It’s the only way I know how to survive. It’s the only way I know how to convince everyone I’m okay.

When my best friend is surprised by the military pen pal she’s been writing letters to for five years, I get a surprise of my own in the form of Stone. He’s just as scarred as me and I’m drawn to him. I want to shelter him as he wraps me in hope, but I’ve been let down before by those who should have cared about me the most. Will we be too broken to find a beginning worth more than our past and our scars?

**18+. If you like alpha heroes and an insta-love story that is sweet and spicy but isn’t necessarily simple, then this is for you. No cheating with a guaranteed HEA. It is a standalone but is related to my Denver Family series (Banks Ink., Suburban Outcasts and Higgins Security). Meet Genesis in Building His Home (Banks Ink. Book 8) and Stone in Letters From Hometown USA (Loving My Soldier Series). Journey with me for this book and Letters From Hometown USA (Loving My Soldier Series), because there is a time jump. To get a chronological reading order, please see my website.**

The Heart of the Wounded Hero series was created to pay tribute to and raise awareness of our wounded heroes. Each of the over eighty authors involved have contributed time, money, and stories to the cause. These love stories are inspiring and uplifting, showing the sacrifice of our veterans but also giving them the happily ever after they deserve.

By increasing awareness through our books, we believe we can in a small part help the wounded heroes that have sacrificed so much.
