General Norton, near the end of his days, is visited on a Sunday afternoon by a supposed thief, and he is in for the time of his life. Loneliness and isolation drive the General to advertise a goat on a radio exchange program, which "the Hippie" picks up on. The odd pair spend a suspense-filled evening when they go out to look at the goat on General's property behind his rural home in South Georgia.
