She is a liar. Whatever she is hiding, I will find it out, and I will destroy her.
Maat ‘Mattie’ Silvershade
I came to Bloodmark for one reason: to learn everything I can about how the wretched ‘New Epoch’ sorcerers train their dark soldiers to kill my people. I would never be allowed near this school if they knew what I was, but because my magic allows me to hide, I can play student with the rest of them, and plumb their knowledge before any discover what I am.
Only the headmaster watches me, far more than he should. I’ve heard stories about his powers, and hoped not to pull his attention at all, much less to have him follow me like a shadow, appearing everywhere I turn.
No one told me he looked like a fairytale prince, either, or that his eyes would be that shade of green, or that he would be so tall, or his shoulders so broad.
Varis ‘Wyrm’ Wyvern
Bloodmark War Academy is my legacy, and my prison. I rule over it with an iron fist, tasked as I am with training elite fighters from among our most talented dark wizards. My students go on to enforce the new order, forged in blood out of the collapse of the Magical and human dimensions, and watched over by the Iron Circle. I am now favored by the Pharoah, and have even earned the grudging respect of my father, despite my being second son.
Of course, they don’t know my real purpose here. No one does''' until she arrives.
I know she hides something, even before I catch her performing magic she should not be capable of casting. Worse, something achingly familiar about her gnaws at me. Does she spy for my father? Or does her presence here portend something more sinister?
The fact that everything about her compels me only enflames my need to know.
