Corina has freed the six shards from the clutches of a tyrant, earning herself a small measure of peace. But being the first Possessor in centuries comes with responsibilities, and rest is not among them.

Corina finds herself the middle of a war with the Defiance. The rebels wield an unknown runic power that threatens to annihilate the already fragile Empire.

In the midst of it all, a voice has been whispering in her mind. It calls itself God and has named Corina its hero. Forced to track down answers that could save the Empire and her sanity, Corina learns there are secrets in the world not even a Possessor should unearth.
