Rescue Alaska: Books 1-8
(2025)(A book in the Rescue Alaska Mystery series)
An omnibus of novels by Kathi Daley
Rescue Alaska is a small town in northern Alaska where visitors come to hike and ski. Harmony Carson is a lifelong resident who volunteers as a member of the local search and rescue team. Harmony has a unique gift which she often considers a curse. She is able to 'see' the individuals she is meant to help rescue, and more often than not she can feel their fear and their pain as well. When she isn't aiding in a rescue, Harmony works at Neverland - the bar owned by her brother in law Jake, and volunteers at the local animal shelter. Harmony lives in a rustic cabin with six dogs, four cats, six kittens, eight rabbits, and a blind mule named Homer.
In book 1 a longtime local, Tim Maverick, sends his old friend, Harley Medford, a letter with a photo stating that if he should turn up dead at some point in the near future, the man in the photo is the one who killed him. When Tim is found dead only two weeks later, Harley comes to Rescue to find the man he is convinced killed Tim. He hears that Harmony has a reputation for finding people so he enlists her help. The journey to find the truth behind Tim's untimely death, will take Harmony on a journey of discovery she never saw coming.
In book 2 Jake and Harmony are in the process of training a new search and rescue dog when they get a call that a four-year-old boy has gone missing from the cabin his family rented while on vacation. They join the search and rescue team, along with the local police, in the hope of finding the child before it is too late. Along the way they discover the freshly dumped body of an important member of the community. The police are stumped as to why this popular town resident would have been murdered, until a second community member goes missing and a disturbing pattern begins to emerge.
In book 3 Harmony's life is thrown into turmoil after she shares a memory with the madman responsible for the death of a popular member of the Rescue Alaska Search and Rescue Team. She knows she must overcome her fear and grief in order to track down the man, who has threatened the safety of the entire community.
In book 4 Christmas arrives early in Rescue Alaska as the search and rescue team are tasked with finding a missing Santa. With a new mystery to solve, and a holiday decorating contest to bring light to the long days of winter, the town is steeped in holiday cheer until a surprising murder puts a damper on the annual festivities. Meanwhile, Harmony tries to help Houston find the Christmas spirit, while Harley is surprised by a visitor from the north.
In book 5 Harmony’s visions are becoming more frequent and they are becoming more intense. It seems they are starting to hurt her but no matter how hard she tries she can't seem to escape them. She can’t sleep and often has headaches. There is one vision specifically that is haunting her nights, so she sets out with Houston to find the answers she needs to hopefully stop the nightmares.
In book 6 Harmony finds that dreams are real. When the murders carried out during her nightmares begin to manifest themselves in the real world Houston sets everything aside to help Harmony track the killer they are certain has formed a psychic connection with Harmony during her sleep hours.
In book 7 Harmony and the entire search and rescue team is called out on a rescue involving eight teens. Initially it is assumed that they had simply become disoriented and had wandered off in the wrong direction, but when the team finds a campsite in disarray as well as the bloody body of one of the teens, they realize there is more going on than they initially suspected.
In book 8 Harmony has lost her powers as abruptly as they appeared. Will a change in the choices she's made help her to regain her powers or are they simply lost forever.
