A novel by

Landon Rydell was known for his wild, restless youth that continued far past the age it should have, until he and his child-hood friend, Andy Sullivan made a baby and got married. Soon realizing they were truly only best friends and parents together, he starts seeing a therapist to figure out how to become the best version of himself he can become, for his new daughter.

He meets Celeste McCray in the shared waiting room of the therapist. Friendly and engaging, Landon draws out the usually reticent and private Celeste to get her invested in the drama of his life. Including his soon-to-be, friendly divorce.

Struggling with her own past, she asks Landon to help her through a particularly hard anniversary date. This day changes their relationship dynamics, but she won't claim any type of label for their unusual connection, and actively tries to deny they are even friends.

As their connection deepens, her prickliness and secretiveness about her past also increases.

When Landon's ex-wife, out of concern for Landon and their baby, figures out what Celeste is hiding, and confronts her about it, no one is prepared for Celeste's reaction.

And that's just the beginning of things no one could begin to understand...
