In Les Dawson's sleeve notes to the original album, he says: 'Due to a positive avalanche of a letter which arrived through a window tied around a brick, here is my first album. Already we've been asked to send quite a few to the Congalese rain forests where they will be used by the plate-lipped women - we're not too sure about this because they could suffer from lipsed disc! I just recently completed a tour of brick-kilns and permissive massage parlours, and broke all records - they threw the juke box at me! Hope you enjoy the album - it includes performances from both my BBC TV and Radio shows and will give you some idea why Variety is dead!'
