What has him wondering, why is she hiding out here and not in London searching out a husband. Not that he wished to complain as he found her not only beautiful but his intellectual equal.
After two bodies turn up Matthew quickly learns Kathleen is stronger than any young lady of the ton he'd ever met.
As the mystery of who the murdered victims are is uncovered Matthew learns of a hidden, albeit interesting, fact about Kathleen. Should he allow her to continue with these late night excursions or put a halt to them?
When all the truths come out Matthew and Kathleen, now married are happy at who helped bring the murderers to justice.
