What's a girl to do when she has a special skillset and she needs to eat? She uses those skills to hunt the things that go bump in the night.
Tasked by Barnabas Jones, an archaeologist claiming to want to preserve history, Isabella "Isa" Al-Masri is hired to remove the beast protecting the Great Pyramids of Egypt, by any means possible… including death if she must.
Instead of finding beasts, she finds three jackals, guardians of the dead and servants of Anubis. Ardeth, Tahir and Tariq are cousins that have been guarding the pyramids for as long as they can remember, and it’s not the most glamorous gig in Egypt. At least it pays the bills and keeps them fed until Anubis decides on a different fate for them.
