Brief Interlude

Donald Fane's sudden death releases his wife, Sara, from a marriage which was a tragic failure and which had become well-nigh intolerable to her. With a new sense of freedom and independence, Sara takes a job with her charming and sympathetic neighbour, Laurence Cowdray, a publisher. Propinquity and mutual attraction are too much for Sara and Laurence and they become lovers - but this is to be a free contract and neither will stand in the other's way should the relationship end. However, they reckon without Lois Morgan, and for a time their happiness is shattered by this handsome but unscrupulous woman.
