Cy and Lou are called out in the pouring rain to drive to the other side of the county to solve a murder. A woman has called several people to meet her at a huge house she owns in the country, but when they arrive, the house is guarded by a hungry-looking pack of Dobermans who want them for dinner. Luckily, the owner of the dogs is outside the protective fence and can calm the dogs so that each of the people can enter the house. But when they get inside the house with three floors plus a basement and an attic, the woman is nowhere to be found. When they search the house, they find the woman dead, murdered. When Cy and Lou arrive, they question the former butler, the owner of the dogs, two members of the family of the original owner, an embalmer who works at the funeral home, a car salesman who was her former boyfriend, and a couple of other people, to see which of them murdered the woman, because the only way to get inside the house is guarded by those ravenous dogs. The butler was the first to arrive, followed by a family member, the dog owner, and then the others. The book moves from humor to suspense to clues about who murdered the wealthy woman, and they finally receive a clue that narrows down those who might have killed her. Will your detective skills allow you to solve the murder first?
