Hospital porter and talented photographer Paul Thompson is quietly documenting the hidden lives of people around him. His photographs capture affairs, suspicious payments, police misconduct and domestic abuse.
Then Paul disappears.
Days later, his body is discovered beneath a pile of rubbish at Clacton Hospital. DS Cyril Claydon and DI John ‘Dick’ Barton take on the case. Having once had totally opposing views to policing, they have learned to tolerate each other with grudging respect.
