A novel by

Ex-cop Frank Harper doesn't want to get involved. Harper is visiting the small Ohio town of Cooper's Mill, trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter and a grandson he's never met. But he finds the town gripped in fear-two young girls have gone missing, taken in broad daylight from a busy street. And the police are coming up blank. But once Harper is drawn reluctantly into the investigation, he'll stop at nothing to find the girls. And he doesn't care who gets in the way.

Interview with the Author

Q - So, why should I read about this Frank Harper dude?
A - Ex-cop Frank Harper's got a lot of problems. He's battling his addictions and trying to connect with his estranged daughter and a grandson he's never met. When he's sober, his investigative skills are second to none, but he's currently stuck behind a desk in the Cold Case section at the Alabama Bureau of Investigation. Frank is tenacious and headstrong and good at solving crimes; just don't bring up Hurricane Katrina around him, or hide his bourbon.

Q - What order should I read the books in?
A - I've written the series in order, so the best way would be to read the four books in order. And I have several more books and other short pieces of fiction planned for the series. I'd suggest the following sequence:

A Field of Red (released in 2013)

Black Ice (released in 2015)

White Lines (released in 2017)

Yellow Jacket (released in 2018)

Q - I see you've written several other fiction titles. Are they connected to the Frank Harper Mysteries series?
A - I have written three other fiction titles, and yes, some of the characters and items that reappear. Keep an eye out for Doris the waitress--she's all over the place. I'm working on a new fiction title now that involves Lisa Stevens' red Tercel from "Black Bird."

Q - Where can I get paperback versions of the books?
A - the best place to order books would be here on Amazon. Just visit the kindle page for the title, then select paperback. If you would like signed copies, please visit my website at gregenslen.com and click on the Store link. The paperbacks are also available in select stores in the Dayton Area, but call ahead to verify stock levels.
