Wales (1909 - 1958)

Margiad Evans (1909-1958) was a Welsh novelist who died in 1958. She was a poet and novelist writing in the 30s and 40s. Her three most famous works are Country Dance (1932), A Ray of Darkness (1952) and Autobiography (1943, Second Edition, 1952).

Country Dance has recently been resurrected and championed as a lost classic. Termed the "Welsh Wuthering Heights" it was the first novel written in Wales in more than a decade to be serialised in BBC Radio 4's popular Book at Bedtime in 2006.
