This is the first book in a cozy mystery series featuring a lion detective. It is set in a fictional 1930's Lancashire village.

The Maharaja loses his precious ruby to a thief. A thief who leaves no trace and no clues within the Elephant Castle. The local police are puzzled and cannot move forward, so they enlist the help of lion detective Colonel Russ and his buffalo companion Roam of the Lion Hall Detective Agency. This is a first case for Russ and his assistant, Roam. Excited, intrigued and puzzled in equal measure, they set out to investigate the jewel's disappearance.

The case takes unexpected turns along the way; could it also be connected to the gang of thieves operating locally, robbing the wealthiest homes on the outskirts of the village of Brentwood on Twill, or is there something going on in the woods near Lion Hall?

And why is Brock, the local pub landlord, hot under the collar when DI Ted Bones calls in for a pint? Step into the world of Lion Hall, Colonel Russ, his friends, colleagues and enemies, who will be unlike any characters you’ll have ever met before.
