(1948)
A novel by

For years, Morgan Cameron and Jim Brett have been working and planning for the day when Morgan's sons, Stash and Lee, will take over leadership of their cattle empire, the B C Company. Stash, who is determined to become sole boss by fair means or foul, finds his way continually blocked by his brother. But Lee, intent on keeping the peace, refuses to compromise where pretty Kit Mosby is concerned - and he vows that Stash will never have her, even if it means killing him to prevent it. When a cowardly murder rocks the range, even soft-spoken Jim gets his dander up. But that's only the beginning of gunsmoke and disaster. Violence soon breaks out in full force, and the powerful B C Company is divided into hostile factions, brother against brother, with vast cattle holdings and a woman's love at stake.
