This carnival has one killer attraction.
Widowed bookstore café owner Daphne Cole is settling into small-town life with a new civilian consultant badge, a growing spark with Sheriff Mac Weaver, and Mooney, her enormous Old English Sheepdog, whose investigative talents lean heavily toward snacks.
Then Victor is found electrocuted inside the Haunted Harvest Carnival’s House of Mirrors. The wiring was deliberately tampered with, turning a Halloween attraction into a deadly trap.
Suspects are everywhere. Operations manager Celia Hart endured twenty years of Victor’s humiliation and may lose everything in a secret sale. Town electrician Gavin Pike was publicly cheated out of money, and his tools are found near the body. Even the carnival illusionist has reasons to want Victor gone.
As Daphne follows missing equipment, murky alibis, and planted clues, someone realizes she’s getting too close.
And this time, the maze may have been set for her.
Genre: Cozy Mystery
