A Match for the Country
(2026)(The eighth book in the Dragoon Cattle Company series)
A novel by Dave P Fisher
A brand new Western adventure from Dave P. Fisher!
A month has passed since the Dragoon men wiped out the slavers. The ranch has settled into a routine of uneventful progress giving the men time to undertake the exploration to California for new cattle markets. Nolan and Tom, representing the Dragoon ranch, join the combined contingent from the Zamora and Behar ranches on the journey with Gavin McClure. However, nothing remains uneventful for long.
In their absence, the mining crew hired by James Mason jumps his claim and takes the mine from him. In true Mason fashion he takes drastic action and has the crew killed, an event that begins as a dust devil and escalates into a full-blown cyclone against him. When Mason learns he has lost his support from the corrupt power men in Prescott he has their representative assassinated, then bulls ahead to take everything he wants on his own. An action that brings him into the full vision of Sheriff Hodges.
Cochise’s band returns to their winter camp on the ranch. When their hunters find Dillion Clarke shot and left for dead along the Rio San Pedro, they bring him to the Callahan ranch. Mason is suspected, bringing the full weight of the Dragoon men against him. The one thing Mason did not add into his calculations was that, when it comes to the Callahans, friends back friends, and being on the wrong side of them is a dangerous place to be. That cyclone was about to descend on James Mason, and he is not going to like it.
