Dr. Manley's wife Kate has allowed her son Johnnie to become an obsession, excluding the rest of the family. However, when Johnnie becomes more independent and her husband less willing to go along with her obsession, Kate realises that she is in danger of losing her husband and that Johnnie is capable of doing without her.
